Anxiety is high and tempers are flaring. Your spouse is in a panic about #coronavirus. Your boss, on the other hand, thinks it’s “going to blow over.”
Perhaps you’re somewhere in the middle. Regardless, you wish your company was taking things a little more seriously.
So what can you do? Here’s some advice from Business Insider:
- Band together with coworkers and push back as a group, letting management know of your concerns in a rational, thoughtful way.
- If working from home is the issue, make a list of other companies that have already put work-at-home measures in place. Big names include Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and IBM. But you could also look for companies in your specific area or industry to emulate.
- Point out that your population of workers undoubtedly contains those at higher risk, whether it’s obvious or not.
- And if you consider yourself high risk, do not be afraid to ask for an exception to any existing policies.
Right now, our first priority — all of us — is the health and safety of all of us. Never be afraid to speak up.
