Retaining Talent in a Job-Hopping World
The Great Resignation.
It’s a hot topic of conversation, and it’s the bane of many companies’ existence right now. Another unprecedented outcome of the current global pandemic.
A recent Microsoft survey put the whole thing into pretty stark terms: 41 percent of workers around the world are considering quitting their jobs.
So what is there to do? How do you retain talent in a job-hopping world?
Aon’s The One Brief (August 2021) recently published some tips:
Use data to drive retention strategies – find out why people leave (exit interviews) and why people stay (employee engagement surveys)
Evaluate your company culture and how it can serve as a retention tool (hint, it’s not just about the money)
Think of the pandemic as an opportunity to reset – challenge your assumptions about the way your company has always done things
The last point is really interesting. The upshot to The Great Resignation is that it affords your company a chance to openly and honestly evaluate how well it is handling its goals.
Take what you learn from that evaluation into your hiring process.
