Networking Channels You May Not Have Thought Of
Even the most enthusiastic recruiter will give you this advice: You still have to network.
That used to mean a lot of in-person pressing of the flesh at things like conferences, business mixers and networking clubs.
Now, remote networking has become the norm. There’s social media, of course. You’re already on LinkedIn, obviously.
But have you ever thought about using Slack to network? Slack is for more than just communicating with coworkers on a project. There are plenty of open Slack communities and interest groups that welcome professionals aligned with their conversational mission.
Podcasts are another place you can “meet” up and comers and thought leaders in your chosen field. Then, reach out to them on LinkedIn or Twitter to say “hey, I love what you had to say on the recent episode of [insert blog title here].”
There’s no one best place to network online. But while you have time, play around with the different options and see where you get the best response.
