Telemedicine is the Safety Valve for a Strained Healthcare System
How will COVID-19 impact the future of telemedicine?
A recent piece from Wired goes over the pros and cons of telemedicine when it comes to addressing the COVID-19 pandemic.
Telemedicine technology makes it possible for doctors to diagnose mild cases of the coronavirus and offer guidance for treatment from afar. Simply put, it achieves the paradoxical goal of keeping (mildly) sick people out of hospitals.
Of course, you can’t test patients over Skype. But as the article points out, telemedicine offers doctors a critical resource: time. By allowing doctors to advise patients in the isolation of their own homes, telemedicine may be crucial in “flattening the curve.”
As a recruiter that works with clients in the healthcare sector, I’m heartened by the potential of marrying telecommunication and medicine. In a world full of technological advancement, innovations such as this are helping companies move forward.
Also helping healthcare companies move forward? Their employees.
Take it from me: your technology is only as good as the people you hire to use it. At The Source and Recruit Co., we pair our clients with immensely talented candidates who are poised to bring their operation into the future.
