Quitting Isn't Necessarily A Bad Thing
The old adage that “winners never quit” is absolutely incorrect.
As we’re seeing in the world of hiring right now, lots of winners are quitting so they can move on to better jobs.
For managers and company leaders, this is admittedly stressful. But back up and take a birds-eye view, and you’ll see that this wave of resignations and job reshufflings actually indicate a sort of optimism on the part of the workforce. They’re recognizing that they have choices and seeking out jobs that will be a better fit, be that for compensation, career growth, culture and so on.
If you’re a hiring manager looking at resumes that show gaps between employment, especially in the last 2 years, our recommendation is not to dismiss those candidates too quickly. There are a number of potential explanations, pandemic-included, that might shed light on a candidate’s potential value to your organization. Knowing how to navigate all these variables is why you can benefit from having a recruiter on your side.
